Guadalupe

Recenter Map To This Location

Guadalupe was a marvelous surprise to us. We knew about its Franciscan monastery, where pilgrims have come since the 14th century to worship the Black Virgin of Guadalupe, but we did not expect to find a town of such utter charm. Many of Spain’s medieval towns are stunning in their central core, but modern civilization has crept right to their periphery. Not so with Guadalupe: the town exemplifies great architectural purity and there is nothing new to jar the senses.
