Mineral de Pozos

Recenter Map To This Location

About an hour’s drive northeast of San Miguel de Allende (just south of the larger town of San Luis de La Paz) is the Colonial town of Mineral de Pozos, affectionately known by all as just “Pozos.” In the early part of the 20th century this once wealthy mining town was abandoned and lay dormant until recently rediscovered by an ever growing number of artisans and expatriates who came and fell in love with Pozos’ laid back charm. Make it a day’s outing and enjoy a delicious lunch in the lovely garden courtyard of the appealing Casa Montana, which is also a delightful small hotel. Your hostess Susan Montana (a transplant from New Mexico), will be glad to share her love of the town and advise you what sights to see. Note: The Casa Montana would be an excellent alternate choice for accommodations if you prefer to stay off the beaten path rather than in the tourist center of San Miguel de Allende.
