Sirmione
| Recenter Map To This Location |
One of the most picturesque towns, Sirmione is accessible by a picturesque drawbridge. This walled medieval village at the south end of Lake Garda is positioned on a miniature peninsula that juts into the lake. During the summer Sirmione is absolutely bursting with tourists, but you can easily understand why: this is another one of Italy’s “stage-set” villages, almost too perfect to be real. Unless you are one of the lucky ones with a hotel confirmed for the night, you cannot take your automobile inside the town walls, since only pedestrians are allowed through the entrance. But if you have hotel reservations, stop near the entrance at the information office where you are given a pass to enter in a taxi.
