Umbria’s most international acclaimed wines are without doubt those of Lungarotti, whose 600 acres of vineyards produce a long list of both reds and whites, grappa, and olive oil. Besides a 5 star hotel, the Tre Vaselle, and a wine museum, the family has now branched out to offer accommodation on the farm in the center of their vineyards. At a short distance from Torgiano, the Lungarotti center, the typical elongated stone farmhouse dating to the 1700’s has been converted into ten refined country apartments with swimming pool. A separate house at the entrance contains a reception area and breakfast room. Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the vines in warmer weather. Your friendly and accommodating hostess (very little English spoken), Gabriella, lives on the property and assists guests. The apartments can sleep from two to six and have living rooms with kitchenette corners, basic white tiled bathrooms and outdoor garden space. A clean country look is achieved with striped cushions on wicker or wrought iron furniture, an occasional antique, painted accents on white walls and Deruta hand-painted hanging plates.
