These are the words thought of on our holiday in August this year at the Borgo della Marmotta, a luxurious farm resort, part of Le Terre di Poreta. Le Terre di Poreta is situated in the small village of Poreta, near Spoleto, Umbria, Italy. It consists of the “Borgo della Marmotta”, a farm resort with B&B and apartments for rent, and “Villa della Genga”, countryhouses for rent. In the neighbourhood of Poreta there are enough things to do and to see, as well as for those who like nature as for those who like to visit ancient cities and villages, such as Assisi, Perugia, Rome, Spoleto and Norcia. Borgo della Marmotta is a very stylish restored farm, situated between the characteristic hills of Umbria and surrounded with and situated between olive trees. When you enter the Borgo, it’s like you enter a tiny village: tiny paved roads, thick stone walls, little windows and wooden doors, which all gives you the feeling of going back in ancient times. However, the resort meets complete the needs of this time without losing the character of ancient times. Our room was large, comfortable and stylish, including a very luxurious bathroom, with rainshower (separate) and bath, toilet and bidet. Breakfast was delicious – typical Italian “pasticceria”( sweet croissants), toast, home-made marmelade, home-made pie, Italian cheese and of course salami and prosciutto- and served in the charming breakfast room or outside at the terrace, situated between the olive trees. Lunch could be served on request. Last but not least there is a beautiful swimming pool, with a view over the countryside of Poreta and provided with luxurious reclining chairs and beds, including a large bath towel. Finally the owners of the resort, the Montani Fargna family, and their staff are taking care of the details and personal touch, which made our stay at Borgo della Marmotta terrific and every day a “Carpe Diem” .
