Locanda Rosati

Of all the places we stayed on our 2011 trip to Italy Locanda Rosati was our favorite bed and breakfast. Giampiero and Cristiana run the front of house while Paolo and Gopal are responsible for the delicious food. Guests take priority at this deluxe bed and breakfast and like us I’m sure you will have a splendid time. The downstairs common areas include two cozy living rooms with fireplaces and a large stone-walled dining room divided by a brick archway leading down to the “tufo” stone cellar. The bedrooms, named after local animals, are delightfully kitted out in pine with each rooms animal subtly featuring on the headboard and lamps. One room is specially equipped for the handicapped. All have air conditioning and modern shower rooms. Most rooms face the lush gardens to the back where a large open lawn space leads to the inviting swimming pool. Paolo and Gopal produce appetizing pastas, soups, and other specialties all served in a most convivial atmosphere round the communal dining table. We thoroughly enjoyed our impromptu cooking lesson which involved watching and assisting in the making of that nights four-course dinner.  Sitting on the border of Umbria and Lazio, and just steps away from Tuscany there is lots to see and do.  Orvieto is a ten minute drive away, parking is not a problem when you have Locanda Rosati’s parking directions. Visiting the nearby Civita de Bagnorégio, a hilltop village accessible only by footbridge is a must. A picturesque 6km hike down country lanes starts and finishes at the locanda. Assisi makes an excellent daytrip.
