La Volpaia

For years Andrea and Silvia have literally opened their entire home to guests, welcoming and re-welcoming guests to their bed and breakfast. International guests gather together in the evenings out on the patio or in the converted barn for one of Silvia’s delightful meals based on fresh vegetables and meats enhanced with their own extra-virgin olive oil. Conversation is never lacking with meals accompanied by La Volpaia’s own Chianti (all beverages are included in the half-board rate). Andrea, a native Roman architect and sculptor, bought the wine estate with its 16th-century farmhouse 19 years ago and his pieces in olive wood are displayed in and about the property. The five cozy bedrooms are appointed with antiques, as is the large living room with fireplace. Beyond the patio where meals are served is the spectacular swimming pool with its heavenly views of what can only be described as a truly classic Tuscan landscape. Guests are made to feel immediately right at home in this informal setting and so it is no wonder that many become “regulars” to this idyllic spot so close to the highlights of Tuscany.
