Returning to his native Italy after running a resort in Mexico, Matteo continues using his expertise in anticipating guest’s needs in this latest endeavor at the Lupaia. Finishing touches have been made after a thorough restoration project of the family’s vast Tuscan property overlooking the ancient hilltown of Montepulciano. With two stone farmhouses with beamed ceilings and brick floors as a base, and Matteo’s mother’s flair for details in decorating, each guest room has been given its own distinct character. Bold colors range from celestial blues, chartreuse greens, solar yellows and rusty reds mixed with hot oranges and are found in every single object or piece of furniture cleverly restored by hand. All seven rooms, most with fireplaces, are accessed independently from the outside, each with a terrace or garden. Features such as extra space, extraordinary views, loft beds, kitchen corners and spacious showers are divided among the rooms. Breakfast is served in the garden or in the large dining room with a fireplace. A lovely bi-level pool for simply lounging and taking in the breathtaking scenery has been specially designed to hug the hillside. Cooking classes and wine and cheese tastings are arranged, as well as sumptuous Tuscan fare. With all these marvelous ingredients, you simply cannot go wrong.
