La Locanda

Weary of life in the intense financial world of Milan, Guido and Martina packed up and headed for the hills of Chianti and the “good life” that attracts so many there. After a long search they chose the scenic property where La Locanda now stands, primarily for its magnificent position facing out to medieval Volpaia and an endless panorama filled with layers of virgin hills. The results of their meticulous restoration of three simple stone farmhouses are formidable and today fortunate guests can share in their dream. Its remote location among woods and olive groves guarantees total silence and tranquility and the comfortable, decorator-perfect common rooms and luminous colors harmonize divinely with this idyllic setting. An understated elegance permeates the six bedrooms and the suite. They are tastefully appointed with antiques and smart plaid curtains, and four have the advantage of the views. Breakfast and dinner (on request Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays) are served out on the terrace above the swimming pool whose borderless edge disappears into the landscape. Guido and Martina, natural and gregarious hosts, exude a contagious enthusiasm for their new surroundings.
