Castello di Tornano

The Castello di Tornano, a strategically situated hilltop tower dating back almost 1,000 years, has a 360-degree vista of the surrounding valley and has been of great historical significance in the seemingly endless territorial battles between Siena and Florence. The owners are the Selvolini family and it is Patrizia who welcomes guests to the expansive wine estate. Nine charming rooms are situated in the actual castle and its monumental tower. Patrizia has personally taken care of the décor of the house using many of the family’s own antiques. The “piece de resistance” is the superior suite on the top floor of the tower, offering a unique architectural style and a magnificent view from eight large windows. The tower-top terrace has a 6-person hydro-jet pool, a view not easily forgotten. In the stone farmhouse, in front of the tower, 7 one- and two-bedroom apartments are offered guests, each appointed in the typical rustic style of Tuscany. The kitchen serves authentic, traditional meals as well as cooking classes. The spectacular pool was built inside the ancient moat of the castle. Trails cut across the vineyards and the surrounding woods, enjoyable for walks. It is also possible to ride the owners’ horses through the scenic countryside.
