After leaving Tancamelis, we felt much like Cinderella when midnight struck! Our trip to Sardinia was magical.. due above-all else to Tancamelis and to the delightful owners, Deb and Antonio! I can’t even imagine how miserable we would have been in one of those large villages or residences with their entirely different atmosphere and feeling - more that of a circus than of the serenity and authenticity that we experienced in their lovely home. The extraordinary structure, refined taste and magnificent setting all capture so effectively the very essence of Sardinia...and were simply pure poetry. Tancamelis is for those seeking the real Sardinia, a genuine experience, certainly not for those who want evening entertainment, three swimming pools, etc.

We are also so very grateful for their wonderful recommendations for outstanding places to eat, special itineraries and places of particular interest.

Our days began with the spectacular, beautifully presented, real food, delicious, served breakfasts on the panoramic veranda: local fruit, homemade tarts, local FRESH ricotta, beautifully sliced locally grown tomatoes with various local cheeses. There was daily variety both in what was served and of the artful and quality table-settings. The breakfasts were absolute highlights for us and a magical way to start each day. The beauty of the veranda/breakfast room, its fine appointments, the well-chosen, mood-setting music, the original and artistic table settings, the skillful mix of elegant and sophisticatedly rustic appointments were all eloquent testimony to an outstanding attention to detail...to the absolute perfection of style...and to infinite and impeccable good taste.

The natural setting, the carefully planted (in the strictest Sardinia tradition of flora) garden and lawns, the richly varied and stunning macchia mediterranea above the beautiful Marmorata beach went well beyond what we had so hoped for and were the very epitome of serenity and minimalistic beauty. The ever-changing light throughout the day, the sunrises, the breezes, the morning dew on the green lawns truly mesmerized us. All of this, along with the extremely pleasant owners and their genuine welcome, warmth, caring and their time for meaningful conversations have left us with a delicious after-glow and a profound nostalgia.

The Suite Room was airy, spacious, soothing in its knowing decor, with a wonderful walk-in shower and its own veranda/porch. It looks out onto the beautiful and immaculately well-kept garden, the gorgeous typical countryside with its wind-swept vegetation... and on to the sea. A beautiful beach is a 10-minute stroll or a 2 minute drive with easy/accessible parking.

We are immensely grateful to have found exactly what we were hoping for in Tancamelis - an extremely gracious small and personal...and very charming... guest house with lovely owners and plenty of privacy! This is truly a find - an idyllic place for an idyllic stay in northern Sardinia.
