La Traversina

On the border of Liguria and Piedmont and conveniently located near the Genoa-Milan autostrada sits the hillside property of friendly hosts, Domenico and Rosanna, president of the regional agritourism association. The house is immersed in woods at the end of a long gravel road and is barely visible through the ivy and rose vines that conceal it—a true spectacle in late May. This gives just a hint of one of Rosanna’s two passions: cooking and gardening, both of which guests can participate in by taking lessons. Two bedrooms are situated in the main farmhouse dating to 1714 and in Rosanna’s family since that time. The apartments with exposed beams are located next door in the converted barn and are all decorated in pleasant country style with antiques and family memorabilia. Guests sit down together “en famille” at a long table to taste one of Rosanna’s delectable meals prepared with their own fresh, organically-grown produce from the garden (Domenico’s passion). Guests/friends are made to feel right at home in this informal and tranquil atmosphere, where silence and privacy are highly respected and guests become a natural part of the farm’s everyday life. A small pool is hidden in lush vegetation just behind the house.
