La Torretta

Casperia an idyllic hilltop medieval village in the heart of the Sabine Hills is the perfect place to stay for taking daytrips to Rome; the train station is just a 15-minute drive away. Welsh-born Maureen, along with husband, Roberto, and daughters Jennifer and Kathleen welcome guests to their beautifully restored 15th-century home in heart of the village. The entrance stairway leads to a large open and elegant lounge room with a collection of the family’s paintings, stone fireplace, and 16th-century frescoes discovered during the restoration process. All seven bedrooms are individually and tastefully decorated in soft beige tones, which harmonize with travertine bathrooms, and have stunning views over the town’s rooftops. Meals are served upstairs in a dining area with panoramic terrace overlooking olive groves and the wooded Sabine hills. This lovely area is filled with hilltop villages to explore, besides being on the border of Umbria. Jennifer, Maureen and Kathleen customize itineraries for guests including olive oil tasting and dinner at a family run farm just outside the village. Jennifer offers cooking courses and shiatsu massage while Roberto specializes in ancient Roman architecture and archeology.
