Villa Krupp

The Villa Krupp, built in 1900, is a delightful, small, family-run hotel, whose claim to local fame can be found in its guest book, boasting such illustrious names as Lenin and Gorky. The warm Coppola family, who turned the property into a hotel in the ’60s, offer charming accommodation in 12 bedrooms within a somewhat modern and boxy white building alongside their own residence. The Krupp is dramatically situated in one of the most beautiful corners of Capri’s Augusto Park, atop a steep, sheer cliff dropping to the sparkling turquoise sea beneath. The site overlooks the Faraglioni rock formation and Marina Piccola, one of Capri’s two ports. A set of stairs leads up to the best vantage point from which to admire this spectacular and privileged panorama away from crowds of tourists. The renovated light-filled guestrooms, featuring individual balconies, are decorated with scattered antiques and pastel-colored ceramic tiles and all have air conditioning. Breakfast is served either out on the front terrace overflowing with potted flowers or in the veranda bar/dining room. Mother-daughter team Valentina and Donatella do an excellent job of caring for their guests, many of whom are regulars. Reserve well in advance for a long stay.
