Pam and John Mulhaire were the best hosts you could ask for. Their house is beautiful, masterfully restored and maintained, with very large rooms and excellent beds. Pam and John Mulhaire were the best hosts you could ask for. Their house is beautiful, masterfully restored and maintained, with very large rooms and excellent beds. The breakfasts Pam served were fabulous. There were fresh juices, fresh fruit, cheeses, coffee or tea, and cereals; and then came the real breakfast, freshly baked scones, full Irish breakfast or just about anything else you wanted. Pam is an excellent tourist bureau, she gave us helpful hints on everything, including touring and getting around the Cork and southern Ireland area. She provided recommendations on restaurants in Cork, Kinsale and beyond and made reservations for us. This is a place you don’t want to miss. We had two rooms at the Knockeven House for our three night stay.

We cannot say enough about the unbelievable stay that we had at the Knockeven House in Cobh, Ireland. Pam and John are the most gracious couple that we have ever come across. We have been all over the world (Sweden, Russia, Norway, Amsterdam….) and have stayed at many fabulous places, but Knockeven will be remembered as one of our favorites. We cannot say enough about the unbelievable stay that we had at the Knockeven House in Cobh, Ireland. Pam and John are the most gracious couple that we have ever come across. We have been all over the world (Sweden, Russia, Norway, Amsterdam….) and have stayed at many fabulous places, but Knockeven will be remembered as one of our favorites. Pam and John went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The magnificent accommodations and the grandeur of the house are unmatched. Our room was vast, spotless and elegant. Pam and John have a magical touch and if you are looking for true “Irish hospitality,” you will find it and feel it the minute you meet these amazing people. We cannot thank them enough for all their kindness and generosity. They recommend the most wonderful restaurants, Trade Winds was great, West Eleven was wonderful and if you want the true feeling of an authentic Irish Pub, the Roaring Donkey was a blast. Cobh is stunning, picturesque and a perfect area to relax and enjoy the true beauty of Ireland. John took us to the Jameson Distillery and we even celebrated a beautiful candle lit mass with Pam at the tremendous St. Coleman’s Cathedral. Like I said, they made us feel like family, we actually really miss them! Now to the breakfast…Pam scones melt in your mouth and every morning we felt like royalty in the graceful dining room where Pam would serve a huge Irish breakfast with silver and finery. One of our favorite dishes was the black pudding, which was delicious. She did everything so effortlessly and we never wanted for anything. Knockeven is not far from Cobh , just a lovely walk through a beautiful neighborhood and on to the boardwalk by the water. If you are too tired to make it back after a night at the pubs, a cab is just a $5 ride. Pam and John also drove us many times, we never had to ask, they would just offer. Knockeven is really an exceptional place and I would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a tiny slice of heaven here on earth!
