Woodlands Country House

As newlyweds, Philomena and her husband John put in an exceedingly low bid on a very tumbledown Woodlands Farmhouse and it was many years before she found out why their offer had been accepted. To hear why and enjoy intriguing tales of gold sovereigns, cursed families, and arranged marriages, you will have to go and stay and ask Philomena for a story session with tea or coffee and scones upon arrival. What started out as a simple bed and breakfast has now grown into a very professional guesthouse. Guests have a cozily cluttered parlor with an eclectic assortment of sizeable Victorian chairs. The parlor opens up to an expansive dining room lit by two grand crystal chandeliers, which overlooks the lovely back garden. The front garden is even more impressive: a grand sweep of lawn with shrubs and trees going down to the river and the tennis court. All the smartly decorated bedrooms enjoy garden views and range in size from large family rooms to snug twins—all have electric blankets and small en suite shower or bathrooms with hairdryers. Room 6 is a particularly spacious room overlooking the back garden. In Wexford you can visit Wexford Heritage Park or Johnstown Castle Museum. To the north lies the Vale of Avoca.
