La Maison sur la Sorgue

This magnificent 17th century house is in the center of L’Isle sur la Sorgue, a city well known for antique stores and surrounded by the river “La Sorgue.” La Maison sur la Sorgue is a dream come true for your charming hosts who spent a year to find it and another year of restoration. Beyond the old antique door you arrive in a dramatic, glass-roofed courtyard opening to the sky, with stone floor, where you will be met by your young hosts. They make it evident that their gigantic home is really your home. Going up a few stairs an old stained glass will brighten your path leading to the four spacious guests rooms. You will feel as though you are a world traveler as the decor of each room comes mainly from India and Vietnam. My favorite room is “The Room on the Loggia”; a big room with an open shower, decorated in burgundy, with a beamed ceiling and a large terrace overlooking the pool. Another room with a smaller terrace is the “Attic Suite”, with a little salon, a mezzanine modern bathroom, and a view facing the Chapel of the Virgin. Then two other rooms offer charm, one with a canopy bed; the other hiding the surprise of the shadows! Each suite displays special mementos they have brought back from their travels. To share even more, they have opened a shop next door, “Retour de Voyages”.
