Château d’Esparron

So glad we found this wonderful place. Bits of the Chateau are as old as any building in my native Scotland, and with a great sense of history too, shared by Count Bernard de Castellane whose family built it: this is old France at it's best. His charming family speaks perfect English. They put us quite at ease; there to help when we wanted but the place is big enough for complete privacy too. Beautiful rooms, really comfy beds, and bathrooms too; no worries about French plumbing here! More than enough to see, do and eat nearby to justify staying several nights; wonderful freshwater lake at bottom of village, (swimming, sailing etc.), lavender fields, olive oil, great walking, little restaurants... we were really sorry we couldn't stay longer.
