La Croix d’Etain

Jacqueline and Auguste Bahuaud purchased a handsome manor dating from the mid-1800s and, with great love and labor, meticulously restored the house to its original splendor. Throughout the home everything is fresh, new, and beautifully decorated. The bedrooms are especially outstanding: each has its own personality, each is very inviting. My particular favorite is the Blue Room, which has a prime corner location, affording windows on two walls looking out to the rear garden and the river. One of the very nicest aspects of La Croix d’Etain is its setting: the parklike grounds stretch behind the house with terraced lawns shaded by mature trees. A romantic path through the garden leads down to Grez-Neuville, a real gem of a small village nestled on the banks of the Mayenne river. There are many boats along the Mayenne that can be rented by the day or week for exploring the picturesque countryside.
