La Sorga de Vida

This little B&B in the heart of the Languedoc-Rousillon area, and in the sweet little bastide vilage of Quarante will enchant you. The house was entirely renovated by the current owners, Alain and Genevieve. The name of the Maison d'Hotes comes from the home's origin which was the maternity hospital for the village - all babies were born there and the doctor and attendant midwives lived there as well. The house has been renovated to extremely high standards and is very artistically and well laid out. Genevieve has done a beautiful job decorating. There are 4 lovely and well-designed guest rooms upstairs, but set apart from one another such that guests do not run into one another. There is also a delightful little study/TV room to relax and leaf through books and magazines about the region. The town of Quarante is located about 5 minutes from another little town called Capestang, which lies on the famous "Canal du Midi". That town is delightful as well, and guests can ride, walk or boat down the canal to explore the region further. Genevieve is a wonderful cook, and will delight you with delicious dinners always using the freshest foods "du terroir" available. Alain is affiliated with a vineyard, and will regale you with some of the finest wines of the Langedoc vineyards. In the summer, you will dine outside on an arbor-covered terrace. Alain is a former French Olympic team member as a marathon runner, and holder of a speed title for France. He will create bicycle itineraries through the area for guests wishing to explore, and will be hapy to accompany them. They also have a work-out facility, pool (wonderful in the summer months), and have a massage therapist. For a delightful little out of the way B&B, you get all the comfort and convenience of a 4 star hotel. Best of all, you always feel off the beaten path and very well attended to by the hosts. They are extremely attentive and accommodating while allowing their guests to feel complete privacy. We have now been there twice, and will return to the area if only to stay at this delightful place and see the hosts again.
