Castell Rose

“This ia a B & B that brings together the magic of a castle in an enchanted place and the warmth of real hospitality.” Beauty, warmth, spaciousness, comfort, the constantly changing view of Canigou right out your window—these are the accumulated impressions of our stays at Castell Rose two years in a row, 10-11 days each time. After our first visit last year we wanted immediately to return: the Waldvogels are wonderfully welcoming hosts, always ready to offer well-informed advice on what to do in a large variety of different realms (historical and natural sites, mountains and beaches, markets and walks, etc.). Their information on where to go and how to get there, what restaurants to try or avoid, local foods (especially cheese and fruit and wines), was always helpful and complemented the advice offered by fellow guests exchanged around a generous breakfast table in the large and beautiful dining room. We loved the location, with easy access to Mediterranean beaches, the Pyrenees, Cathar castles and “vin de Maury,” or romanesque abbeys and churches. But we also enjoyed staying “at home” sometimes to enjoy our room and the beautiful grounds around the house: the pool, the gardens, the porch and terraces. By the time we left, we felt we were saying good-bye to family members we hoped to visit again!
