Chez Burckel de Tell:
Corinne and Régis Burckel de Tell bought a characterful 15th-century stone house facing directly onto the main street in the center of Calvisson, a very old village surrounded by vineyards just west of Nîmes, and began the tremendous task of restoration. Corinne (an art historian) and Régis (an artist) were passionately committed to preserving the architecture and culture of the area. Ceilings were stripped back to expose original beams, floors covered with stone slabs or terracotta tiles, and fireplaces brought back to working order. They then furnished the house with a charming rustic simplicity, country antiques and natural fabrics. In the heart of the house is a romantic courtyard garden, which is a true delight, with flowers and greenery setting off the stone walls. Breakfasts are served at one large table in a wonderful room with stones and arched ceiling. The bedrooms, reached by a stone-slab circular staircase, are individually furnished and display the same tasteful, understated beauty. Régis, whose paintings highlight the walls throughout the house, offer week-long art classes for small groups.

We visited with our friends Calvisson in the beginning of September 2011 and we stayed 9 nights by Corinne and Regis Burckel de Tell accommodation where bed breakfast and art combine with a really impressive old building. We made trips to Avignon, Arles, Montpellier, the natural park Camargue and to many nice small villages.
