Vert Saint Pere

My wife and I have stayed at Vert Saint Pere quite a few times. We chose to stay there the first time as it is conveniently located on the edge of Champagne and within easy distance of Paris. We had a wonderful time. It is a simple rustic working farm and the hosts are delightful. There a couple of different types of rooms, the first time we stayed in an enchanting room overlooking the garden, it was so quite it was a huge shock from city life. We popped into Paris for the day which is a short train trip from Melun. The breakfast room is a large family room, there is a huge selection and home made jam. The village has a Michelin rated restaurant which is a real find, we simply asked and our hosts made the booking. The farm is also perfectly located for travelling to the south or the Alps and there are great family rooms (self catering) which are ideal as many of the gite style lodgings require you to stay for at least a week. A strong recommendation is to visit Fontainebleau and also Vieux de Vicomte which is literally just down the road. Both are wonderful experiences and very different. I would thoroughly recommend Vert Saint Pere as a very homely, simple and relaxed bred & breakfast which is simply away from it all and where you are suddenly immersed in a different life at a very different pace.
