La Tour du Trésorier

La Tour du Trésorier is located on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Tournus, in front of the imposing Roman Abbey Saint Philibert. The original owners who converted this former house of the monk-treasurer to a bed & breakfast did an incredible job. While renovating they tried to keep as many original 17th century attributes as possible. Inside, you are treated to the beautiful view of the Saône river and feel incredibly distanced from the bustle of town. Sophie and Thierry are the new owners and are enthusiastic about welcoming guests. While Sophia was born in France, Thierry hails from Belgium. He has a background in the restaurant business, is very interested in the regional wines and also has a passion for painting. Climb the original tower to the bedroom appropriately named “La Tour”. This is the most incredible room—the only one actually embraced by the walls of the tower. Originally the monk’s chapel it enjoys breathtaking 360-degree views. You can still observe the fresco on the walls, the beamed ceiling and paving stones. A separate stairway winds up to La Saône. This spacious, beamed-ceiling suite with two bedrooms, can accommodate up to four persons and faces the abbey or the Saône river. A bountiful breakfast is served on the expanse of terrace facing their park and overlooking the river.
