La Terre d’Or

The first impression of La Terre d’Or, from its exterior, is that it is simply a newly constructed house. But once you are greeted with an infectious smile by the owner himself and welcomed into the warmth and comfort of his home, your opinion will quickly change and you will succumb to its charms. Throughout, the Martins have effectively incorporated old tiles, mantels, and woods in the decor, which give it a lot of character. The main entry is warmed and scented by an open fire and a handsome table used for breakfast sits center stage. The decor is light and airy, with whitewashed walls setting off handsome accent pieces. There are five immaculate bedrooms in the main house, one just off the main entry behind a double set of doors to ensure privacy and quiet. This has a luxurious bathroom with two sinks, tub, and shower, and private toilet. Upstairs the other guestrooms include one with a bed tucked into an alcove under the windows with a backdrop of trees—it’s just like being in a tree house. Next to the pool is a lovely suite, Les Orchidees Sauvages. In an adjacent garden cottage the Martins offer couples or a family fabulous accommodation: two bedrooms sharing a central living room and kitchenette.
