Domaine du Haut Baran

You will fall under the spell of the enchanting Domaine du Haut Baran much as Americans William and Rosalie did a few years ago while visiting William’s French family. They purchased the estate, convinced that this gorgeous piece of paradise was to be their home and business. With her use of colors, special wall textures, hand-painted motifs, fine linens, and luxurious appointments, Rosalie has created very elegant guestrooms. The Rose Room, with a king bed dressed in crisp white linen set under old wooden beams and looking out through large-paned windows to a private terrace and bucolic views, is definitely the choice room. At this end of the house the Sunflower and Wisteria rooms are very pretty with their flower themes, but are much smaller and furnished with just a bed and side chairs. Off the front cobbled yard are the Wheat and the Cala Lily rooms, which can interconnect. An end room, Lavender, has lovely corner windows. The only room with an interior access is the Pine room, located at the top of a spiral staircase off the living room. Breakfast and table d’hôte dinners are a memorable experience, whether served by flickering candlelight under the beams of the old barn or on the terrace overlooking the spring-fed ponds and the valley beyond.
