Old Whyly

Sitting in acres of glorious gardens, Old Whyly is the most gracious of 17th-century manor houses and home to Sarah Burgoyne and her sons, a home they love to share with their guests. Sarah soon has guests feeling at home, encouraging them to relax in the beautiful drawing room, sit in the garden, swim in the pool, or take a peaceful walk through adjacent farms. Guests gravitate to the long pine table in the huge farmhouse kitchen where Sarah loves to talk to them—except when she is involved in one of the more complicated dinner dishes. Cooking is a passion for Sarah and it would be a shame to stay here and not enjoy dinner. Bedrooms are most attractive. Tulip offers the most spacious accommodation; French has blue toile wallpaper, drapes, and bedspread, and wisteria peeping in at the windows; Chinese has its large private bathroom across the hall. Old Whyly is perfect for opera fans as Glyndebourne is ten minutes away and hampers can be provided. Guests often visit Charleston Garden where the Bloomsbury set used to gather. Brighton is popular for its pavilion and interesting shops in the narrow lanes, while Nymans and Leonardslee are popular gardens.
