Karen's Review Of This Property:
This is not your "Hollywood" of frantic freeways and homes of the rich and famous—this is the County Down version: a very nice town facing the sea backed by pastoral countryside. Here Beech Hill House, a Georgian-style dower house built for Victoria's grandmother, sits atop a little knoll. As we sat in the conservatory enjoying tea and fruitcake, I found it hard to believe that half an hour earlier I had been in the heart of Belfast. Victoria grew up just down the road on what is now the site of the Ulster Folk Museum so she is an expert on what to see and do in the area. She also has a real flair for decorating and her lovely home is filled with enviable family furniture. Bedrooms are on the ground floor and have all the right stuff: lovely furniture, books, hairdryers, TVs, goodies, firm beds (a zip-link twin/king, a double, and a queen), fine Irish linen, and well-proportioned bathrooms. We were up at dawn for a flight and Victoria insisted that we start our day with a "little" breakfast: the sideboard was groaning with bowls of fruit, yogurt, and fresh-baked bread accompanied by homemade jam...and then we moved on to the cooked items! For week long stays consider the Colonel's Lodge, a two-bedroom cottage in the garden.
