Karen's Review Of This Property:
Standing on the corner of St. John’s Hill, a charming little square on the edge of the very attractive little town of Wareham, Gold Court House was built in 1762 on the foundations of a 13th-century cottage where the local goldsmith lived. Now it is the spacious, lovely home of Anthea and Michael Hipwell and, fortunately for guests, they continue to offer the same hospitable welcome (along with a tail-wagging greeting from Merlin, the Labrador) as they did for over 15 years at The Old Vicarage in Affpuddle. All the spacious, well-decorated bedrooms overlook the lovely walled garden. Two are found up the main staircase, while the third has a private entry off the garden. Breakfast is the only meal served most of the year but Anthea offers advice on pubs and restaurants to walk to for dinner. Likewise, Anthea helps guests plan their exploration of Hardy country or visits to the haunts of Lawrence of Arabia. The Dorset coast (Lulworth Cove, Dirdle Door, and Ringstead Bay) is close at hand. Nearby are the historic towns of Dorchester, Sherbourne, and Poole, with lots to see and good shopping.
