Windmill House
A Karen Brown Recommended B & B

Karen's Review Of This Property:
Windmill House has the feel of a country estate with a city address. There’s a family of resident badgers by the tree stump, an ancient windmill, and acres of grounds stretching down to the Water of Leith—all just a mile as the crow flies from the center of Edinburgh. A remarkable setting with an equally remarkable home that looks hundreds of years old, though it was actually built just a few years ago—Michael is a builder and Georgian home restorer. It’s a home so lovely that you are thrilled to stay there—or is it just that the Scotts put you in a euphoric mood? Sip tea in the drawing room or put your feet up and watch the television in the sitting room. Climb the elegant staircase to the spacious bedrooms, each beautifully decorated in sunny Georgian colors and accompanied by a top-of-the-line bathroom. One bedroom has an adjacent room for a child. Through the garden gate are the grounds of the Museum of Modern Art from whence a path leads you along the river and into the heart of the city. Those who prefer to ride will find the bus stop an eight-minute walk away. There are plenty of local restaurants for dinner.
