Karen's Review Of This Property:
This quiet, rural spot is just minutes from Scotch Corner on the A1, making it an ideal place to break your journey between the south of England and Scotland. David’s family has always farmed in Yorkshire, and when he inherited this small farm, he moved here with Heather and built Clow Beck House. The Armstrongs and their staff are relaxed, people who truly enjoy welcoming visitors. Guests have a large formal drawing room but more often gravitate into the roomy country kitchen and the spacious beamed dining room with its cheery fire. After a day of sightseeing it’s nice to stay home for dinner. The menu has lots of choices and features local produce. One guestroom is in the main house with the remainder occupying a stable, a granary (where one is equipped for the handicapped), and a cottage. All the bedrooms are excellently fitted out with TV, phone, bathrobes, and large umbrellas. Decor ranges from the dramatic and colorful (particularly in the cottage) to the more quietly decorated rooms in the granary. Use Clow Beck as a base to explore the Yorkshire Dales and Moors, and the heritage coast with Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Runswick. Heather and David love planning routes for guests.
