With admirable determination and family pride, Alessandro and Debora took on the task of renovating and running this historic property, which has been part of the family for three generations. They deserve great credit since they are more concerned with providing warm hospitality and attention to guests’ needs than with keeping up with Venice’s inflated hotel rates. The spacious and luminous reception area with white travertine floors is a welcome oasis amid the city’s more cramped hotels, bustling squares, and crowded narrow streets. Although only a three-minute walk from the Guggenheim collection and Accademia, it has the feeling of being away from the mainstream traffic. The front rooms have water views (higher rate) and all rooms maintain an original flavor with period paintings and personal family objects, parquet floors and matching wood furniture, blue-colored armchairs, new bathrooms, and air conditioning. Four bedrooms have private terraces for a higher rate and other guests enjoy the delightful rooftop terrace. A full buffet breakfast and bar service and meals at La Piscina are offered either in the breakfast room or out on the terrace where you can watch the boats going by. Reserve well in advance. Comfortable suites and apartments are also available in a residential quarter just across the bridge.
