Villa Taormina is exactly the accommodation we searched high and low for in the popular seaside resort town of Taormina. With all the characteristics of an upscale bed and breakfast, its many amenities warrant a four-star-plus rating. Set on a quiet residential street off the main pedestrian-only street in town, the stately white turn-of-the-century residence holds eight very spacious and comfortable guestrooms, two panoramic terraces, several sitting rooms and above all, that marvelous sense of being a pampered guest in a private family home. A cozy reception area adjoins the sitting room and main stairway which leads up to the rooms and suites. All are elegantly appointed with antique pieces, rich fabrics, chandeliers, gilded mirrors and marble floors. A highlight of the stay is the complete buffet breakfast served on the rooftop terrace with stunning sea and Etna volcano views. The home is surrounded by a lush garden with a swimming pool. Besides providing information on local happenings, gracious hostess Signora Rosalie offers extra services such as a shuttle to the beach at Mazzaro, where the hotel has a special area for guests, international newspapers, Internet access, airport transfers and laundry service.
