Karen's Review Of This Property:
The coastal stretch from Messina to Cefalu has special appeal to the off-the-beaten-track traveler who will find the perfect place to stay at Casa Migliaca, a 200-year-old farmhouse nestling in the wooded hills 7 kilometers off the main road. This stone house just outside town, owned by Maria Teresa and Sebastiano, who left the city several years ago in favor of a rural lifestyle, offers a lovely sweeping view over olive and citrus groves down to the sea. The very congenial hosts love to converse with guests around the kitchen table or down in the cool dining room (originally the oil-press room) around the press wheel. A special effort was made to keep everything possible intact, giving the house its own very distinct character, maintaining all original floors, ceilings, beams, kitchen tiles, and furniture, although new bathrooms have been incorporated in most of the rooms. There are even extra showers out in the lovely informal garden! Guests are offered a choice of three double bedrooms upstairs or five downstairs appointed with family antiques. For those who desire direct contact with Sicilian culture, Casa Migliaca is a truly memorable experience.
