In the countryside between the historic towns of Jesi and Osimo, La Commenda is a refined and upscale “Country House,” a newly established accommodation category in the Marches and Umbria regions. It is distinguished from the bed and breakfast category by the number of rooms and the fact that proprietors do not necessarily reside on the premises. Signora Ezia, with a background in architecture, has carefully restored the ancient brick 15th-century residence, giving its interiors a contrasting and appealing contemporary style. The good-sized guestrooms, with designer bathrooms, on the upper two floors each have their own décor, clean and uncluttered. Attention has been given to choice of furniture and lighting. Mosaic tiles mix in with hardwood floors, sand-colored brick walls, and beamed mansard ceilings. Top quality crisp linens are provided as well as plasma televisions and Internet connection. Ezia, who lives in the house next door, leaves keys for guests giving them independence. Common areas include a large living area, breakfast room, swimming pool and open pergola with comfortable sofas and lovely valley views. This is a wonderful base from which to visit the many ancient towns of the area and the nearby coastline.

Directions: Exit the A14 at Ancona Nord and follow to Osimo. After Polverigi follow the road to Casenuove, a group of houses on the main road. Just after this crossroad, turn right on Via Commenda to the first house.
