Between the cities of Bergamo and Brescia is a vast commercial area that incorporates the wine region known as Franciacorta—or “land of bubbles.” The Ricci Curbastro vineyards, made up of almost 80 acres, are located in the heart of the area based at the foot of Lake Iseo. The family is one of the most renowned producers of top-quality (D.O.C.G.) Franciacorta Brut sparkling wine, among 12 other varieties of wine. The large and busy family estate just on the main road is made up of a complex of houses, which include the family’s villa, wine cellars, a wine-tasting showroom, an antiques store, and an interesting agricultural museum and library filled with ancient farm tools and wine presses. Across the street is the farmhouse, transformed into guest apartments of various sizes (studio, one and two bedrooms), each with living area and kitchenette facilities. Rooms are simply decorated with country antiques and stenciled borders around windows and doorways. Here you have the advantage of being close to town while having views of the flat vineyards from bedroom windows. Sports facilities in the area include golf, horseback riding, and biking. This is a conveniently located accommodation for independent travelers.
