Seven kilometers from historic Bergamo and within easy reach of beautiful Lakes Como, Iseo, and Garda is the home of the region’s agritourist former president, Gianantonio Ardizzone. On the property, next to the recently constructed residence where he and his family live, is a sprawling 15th-century farmhouse and barn quad complex of the type known in Lombardy as a cascina. Installed within the cascina are five guest apartments, each including one or two bedrooms, bathroom, and kitchen (though breakfast is served). The apartments are furnished modestly but comfortably, with a decidedly rustic ambiance. The cascina is nestled in pretty surroundings, looking onto the small town of Nese and backing onto the green hills where well-tended riding horses are kept. Gianantonio delights in showing guests his hobbies—a collection of antique farm tools, fruit orchard, and ostrich breeding—and wife Lalla takes care of guests’ daily requests including dinner with prior confirmation. The Grumello offers self-catering, conveniently located accommodation and outstanding value. Your hosts are exceptionally helpful and sincerely warm.
