Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Villa Gaidello farm has received acclaim in many culinary publications. There is nothing extravagant about hostess Paola Bini’s recipes—she has simply revived traditional dishes using the freshest possible ingredients. Pasta is made daily (a great treat to watch) and features all the local variations on tagliatelle, pappardelle, and stricchettoni. Reservations for dinner must be made several days in advance. Paola is one of the pioneers in agritourism, transforming her grandmother’s nearly-200-year-old farmhouse into a guesthouse and restaurant more than 30 years ago. One to five guests are accommodated in each of the eight apartments, which include kitchen, sitting room and are cozy and rustic with exposed-brick walls, country antiques, and lace curtains. Two double bedrooms are found in a fourth house on the property, San Giacomo, each decorated in the style of Paola’s two favorite countries, France and the U.S. The dining room, set with doilies and ceramics, is situated in the converted hayloft and overlooks the vast garden and a small pond. Handling all guest requests is niece, Marta. This is a convenient stopover just off the Bologna-Milan autostrada.
