Karen's Review Of This Property:

On the crest between the Amalfi coast and Sorrento, Villa Giusso, once a 16th-century monastery for cloistered monks is a unique bed and breakfast. A long, very narrow road takes you up to the isolated, stone-walled property whose entrance is marked by an arched gateway with watchtower leading into a park. From there you have an enthralling view over Sorrento, the gulf, and Naples. The monastery itself is surrounded by a high stone wall within which is found a grass courtyard and ancient well still in use. The Giusso family has owned this beloved property for the past 200 years and siblings Onorina, Giovanna, Micaela, and Tullio continue the restoration process while preserving its monastic features. Several cells have been converted into two apartments suitable for four people. A long corridor leads to a suite and three double bedrooms, appointed with worn period furniture and huge paintings. Breakfast with local fresh ricotta, figs in season, and homemade cakes is served in the original kitchen tiled with 17th-century handcrafted Vietri ceramic. On display is an interesting collection of ancient objects. Though not for everyone, Villa Giusso is fascinating and offers the visitor a unique slice of Italian history.

Directions: Exit the A3 at Castellammare (signed Sorrento). Drive to Seiano and just after Moon Valley Hotel take a left at the sign for Monte Faito. Drive to the Arola sign (4.6 km) and go first right up the narrow dirt road to the monastery.
Absolutely charming and excellently located for Sorrento, Pompei and Amalfi coast. Wonderfully charming and historic setting with a warm welcome from the family an wonderful dinner in the ancient Monastary kitchen. THERE IS NOT A BETTER LOCATION FROM WHICH TO VISIT THE MAGNIFICENT SITES OF THE AREA:
-- 30 minutes from: POMPEI, Mt VESUVIUS, HERCULENEUM, POSITANO and AMALFI a short breath-taking 30-40 minute drive to Positano. If you want to do "everything" in the Naples Sorrento area, this is the best located property. Don't let the mountain roads scare you, if you're visiting the area you will have to get used to them. In the summer, the mountain will be a relief, but we love the area in the autumn.
