Karen's Review Of This Property:
Although the Apulia region is decidedly one of the most intriguing and unusual areas of the less-traveled Italy, it is short of accommodation with that combination of comfort, charm, and history we search high and low for. The 350-year-old Masseria Marzalossa, however, is a true exception, being a romantic inn strategically placed between the highlights of the region with its unique trulli cone-shaped houses. The stunning 100-acre property, which produces top-quality olive oil, has belonged to the Guarini family since its origins and they take pride in sharing their piece of paradise with world travelers. A wall surrounding the ancient masseria conceals several inner courtyards leading to the massive stone main house and connecting houses where the elegant, ground-level bedrooms enjoy their own private courtyard entrances. The tastefully decorated rooms are appointed with period antiques in harmony with the stone floors and vaulted or beamed ceilings. Also available is a magnificent suite with high, vaulted ceilings, frescoes, and a marble bathroom. A passageway from the front garden leads to a divine enclosed swimming pool surrounded by columns, lemon trees, bougainvillea vines, potted geraniums, and utter silence. Full country breakfasts and occasional dinners are served in the intimate dining room. This property is impeccable.
