Glenlohane Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Glenlohane is a lovely Georgian home of spacious but not overly grand rooms, sitting in beautiful, parklike grounds. It is a comfortable house, full of attractive things—lovely antiques and furniture, fires, and rooms in cheerful colors. Hosts Desmond and Melanie—the tenth generation of the family who built the house—are most welcoming, as are their dogs. Enjoy tea by the fire in the drawing room, play a tune on the grand piano, and immerse yourself in the charm of it all. Alternatively, browse through the flowers in the tranquility of the walled garden. For dinner there are two very nice restaurants a five minute drive away in Kanturk. Melanie allows guests to access their email on her computer. Ask about renting the entire house for a week. If renting the main house is not within your pocketbook consider Glenlohane Cottage: a three bedroom, two bath cottage with a large outdoor terrace. Garden lovers are directed to Anne’s Grove gardens at Castletownroche and Garinish Island with its grand Italianate gardens. Glenlohane is a working farm of 240 acres with cattle, sheep, horses, and hens; as well as barley, wheat, and oats.
