Karen's Review Of This Property:
Hollywell is set in a large garden overlooking the River Shannon. It has a secluded riverside location, just a couple of minutes’ walk to the heart of Carrick-on-Shannon, a lively riverside town. Tom and Rosaleen provide outstanding hospitality in their lovely old home. Guests have a large sitting room with comfy sofas, books, games, and TV where they gather round the fire in the evening. Breakfast is the only meal served at the little tables arranged round the grand piano in the dining room, but for dinner guests often go to the Oarsman on Bridge Street run by sons Conor and Ronan. Three grandfather clocks grace the hallways and a sofa and books are grouped at the head of the stairs to take advantage of the view over a broad stretch of the river. The two very large front bedrooms share the same lovely view, while the back bedrooms are small only in comparison to those at the front. You can fish without ever leaving Hollywell’s grounds and there’s an 18-hole golf club nearby. A few of the stately houses within reach are Strokestown House and Gardens, Clonalis, King House, Florence Court, Castle Coole, and Belvedere House and Gardens. Ask about the possibility of renting a launch for a day and take a little meander up the River Shannon.
