Karen's Review Of This Property:

The Schloss Sommersdorf, conveniently located near the Romantic Road, is a picturesque small castle with all the ingredients of a proper fairy-tale: keep, turrets, tall towers, spiral staircases, stone bridges, ramparts, and even a moat. This is not a standard hotel at all, but rather the private home of Dr. Manfred and Lilo von Crailsheim, who welcomes guests that come to stay for at least 3 nights. You enter the castle through an outer guardhouse (a pink building topped by a whimsical clock), go over a moat, into a rose-filled courtyard, through a massive door, and up a spiral staircase. All of the accommodations in the castle have an old-world, homelike ambiance. Most of the rooms are in the main house, but my favorite by far are the three apartments in a beautifully renovated separate building. When making reservations, ask for one of these—they offer the most luxurious of the accommodations and make a good base to call “home” while exploring the Romantic Road. The presence of your hosts Manfred and Lilo von Crailsheim makes this a very special place to stay. Dr. v. Crailsheim lived in the castle as a boy and loves to share his home with guests.

Directions: Traveling between Nürnberg and Heilbronn, take exit 52 at Ansbach. Drive south on B13, then turn right towards Wassertrudingern and continue for 8 km to Sommersdorf. The castle is on the right. There is no sign to mark the entrance.
