Karen's Review Of This Property:

In the hills near Toulon, the Zerbibs opened their lovely home as a bed and breakfast. Marceau Zerbib, a talented architect, completely renovated the house so that there are now four attractive guest bedrooms, a separate studio, all tastefully appointed in a quiet, elegant manner with country antiques enhanced by lovely fabrics. The home (a traditional Provençal-style structure with a heavy tiled roof and green shutters) has a parklike setting that is captivating. The gardens are spectacular, with a lush lawn sweeping away behind the house to steps leading down to a lower terrace with a large pool surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs. Overlooking the pool is a protected terrace and a cheerful blue-and-white tiled outdoor kitchen where guests may prepare a light meal. Well-tended gardens abound—the display of flowers everywhere is magnificent. In the background the property extends to a setting of pine and olive trees. Neither Charlotte nor Marceau speaks English, but their hospitality is so genuine that language barriers are quickly overcome.

Directions: From the A50 (about 11 km west of Toulon), take the Bandol exit and follow signs to Le Beausset on the D559. Go through the village and take the second right at the roundabout. In about a block, turn right on the tiny road beside the bakery (Chemin de Cinq-Sous) and continue for 1.1 km. Turn left at a small lane signposted Les Cancades.
