Karen's Review Of This Property:
L’Orangerie has a wonderful location in the heart of Burgundy, amidst a landscape of vineyards, gently rolling hills, pockets of woodlands, cultivated fields, and lush pastures. Built in the late 1800s, this large, handsome house exudes a stately charm, with tall French windows accented by white shutters; walls romantically laced with ivy; and dormer windows punctuating a steep mansard roof. L’Orangerie is thoughtfully organized for the comfort and privacy of guests and has a lounge exclusively for them. Light streaming in through tall arched windows, yellow walls with white trim, fine paintings, traditional furnishings, antique accents, and hardwood floors set a scene of tasteful, refined, homey comfort. The five guestrooms are similarly decorated in pastel colors, with lovely prints, artifacts from around the world, attractive furniture, and white tiled bathrooms. All are attractive, but I fell in love with room 1, which has French doors opening onto the beautiful garden, which slopes down to a little stream. On a lower terrace a large swimming pool beckons guests after a day of sightseeing. Niels and David are charming hosts with a genuine talent for making guests feel at home. They are also excellent chefs and the delicious dinners are artistically presented.
