Karen's Review Of This Property:
About halfway between Meursault and the village of Rochepot, just past Auxey-Duresses, you find the hamlet of Melin and a family-owned château converted to B&B. Turn at the gîte sign and you will be rewarded by the peacefulness of the setting as soon as you pass through the main gates. A side passage delivers you into the courtyard and the B&B office. Very successful as vintners, it might be necessary to search for your hosts—they are often in the tasting room offering samples of their award winning labels. A staircase off the graveled courtyard climbs to the Maranges (named for their 1er Cru), a charming, intimate room with a view over the courtyard and a bathroom off to the side with an open, tiled shower which can communicate by a side door with the Gevrey Chambertin suite. The suite enjoys a large bedroom with sitting area and a small side twin-bedded room. Climbing the turret stair once again leads to the Meursault suite. Decorated with beige and pastel blue colors with a king size bed, this also has a sitting room overlooking both the courtyard and the rooftops of the neighboring village and a small second twin-bedded room with a background hue of soft violet. Pommard is handsome with wonderful old wood floors whose décor incorporates reds and leather. Breakfast is served whenever guests want it in a beautiful large dining room or on the side terrace.
