Karen's Review Of This Property:
I cannot imagine why Guérande is not better known: it is a stunning medieval town with its walls intact and even the moat still filled with water. Happily the town also has a lovely bed and breakfast, making a visit to Guérande even more special. Le Tricot, a stately, cream-colored, 18th-century mansion, is hidden behind stone walls at the end of a small lane. It has been in the de Champsavin family for seven generations. When your charming hosts, Andrea and Loïc de Champsavin, took over the home, it had lain empty for ten years and time had taken its toll: the mansion needed to be totally renovated. With great love and labor, the de Champsavins have made amazing progress in bringing the property back to its original beauty, both inside and out. It is especially astounding to see all the work that Andrea has accomplished. Not only has she made all of the drapes and bedspreads, but also reupholstered chairs and sofas. All of the bedrooms are now as pretty as can be and all have top-notch, tiled bathrooms. One of the most enchanting features of Le Tricot is its gorgeous garden, which stretches out behind the home to be enclosed by the medieval stone wall of the town. The garden, which has an informal English air, is impeccably kept and its beds of colorful flowers are so beautiful that it seems ready for a photo shoot from a gardening magazine.
