Karen's Review Of This Property:
Madame Christiane Bordes gives Maison Trille heart. She opened rooms in her house to outside guests not for the income but because she truly loves what she does: to make guests feel welcome, comfortable, and at home; as well as cook and provide bountiful breakfasts and gourmet table d’hôte dinners. Christiane delights in spoiling her guests with both the presentation and quality of her regional specialties. I could dedicate this entire description to Christiane but Maison Trille is charming in its own right. Typical of homes in this area of Bearn, this beautiful wisteria-draped farm complex, dating back to 1701, wraps round a central courtyard. Guests enjoy their own private entry to the wing that houses a living room and five bedrooms decorated with lots of accents around each one’s special theme. La Poule, a lovely room with twin beds, opens to its own outdoor patio. I loved our small and cozy room, translated as Batchelor Button, whose shuttered windows open to the sounds of cowbells and the morning chant of birds. This home has a long history of hospitality, including overnight lodging to people traveling along the pilgrimage route. If you are interested in a longer stay, Christiane has converted her wonderful old barn to a long-term rental.
