Pomurlo Vecchio

The expansive Pomurlo farm covers 370 acres of hills, woods, and open fields and is an excellent base for touring Umbria. A winding dirt road leads to the typical stone house, which contains a restaurant featuring organically grown, farm-fresh specialties. An antique cupboard and old farm implements on the walls enhance the rustic setting. A nearby converted stall houses two adorable independent rooms looking out over the lake. Other guestrooms and apartments with kitchens are found in two large hilltop homes commanding a breathtaking view of the entire valley with its grazing herds of longhorn cattle. The main house, a 12th-century tower fortress where the inn’s personable hostess Daniela resides, accommodates guests in three additional suites of rooms. Breakfast fixings are provided in apartments. The acquisition of the neighboring property has resulted in a center (Le Casette) offering more service—two stone farmhouses containing 16 additional rooms and a restaurant around a large swimming pool (there's a second pool at Pulicchio). Comfortable and cheerful, all rooms are decorated with wrought-iron beds, colorful bedspreads, and typical regional country antiques. Enjoy the pool and activities such as tennis, soccer, and mountain biking. Very affordable.
