Traveler Reviews of
Fattoria La Palazzina:
(show / hide)
I write this with trepidation that once it becomes common knowledge this remarkable Tuscan B&B will never have another vacancy and Susan & I will never get to return. Nestled in the rolling golden hills of southern Tuscany in the sleepy little town of Radicafoni is the best B&B we have ever been to. The location is ideal for exploring all that Tuscany has to offer. La Palazzina is a 300 year old hunting villa where time has ceased to exist. One gets the sense that one should arrive in a carriage and not a car. Our hosts Silvano & Eliana Mamprin & their niece Ilenia are warm, friendly, always smiling & most of all sincere. They could not do enough for us & took great pleasure in being helpful-something that was woefully lacking in the northern Tuscany B&B we had stayed at the previous week. Our room was large, sunny with a fireplace and filled with antiques. Crisp freshly ironed sheets were provided. The bathroom was large with plenty of hot water and clean towels. The dining and sitting rooms are beautifully appointed and exude a genuine Tuscan charm due to the antique decor and their traditional golden yellow color. The views are spectacular; the grounds are nicely landscaped with a Cyprus lined entrance & front courtyard which gives the villa a very stately appearance. As for the meals, breakfast featured a large selection of cereals, fruits, freshly made cakes & pies and of course traditional Italian cheeses & meats. The dinners were even better. I loved the steak, duck, and rabbit entrees prepared by Eliana as well as her different pastas, potatoes and vegetable side dishes. Susan is a vegetarian and asked if it was possible to have lightly fried zucchini florets. The next night that was her appetizer followed by zucchini parmesan. This typified how far Silvano & Eliana were willing to go to make our stay a memorable one. Whether helping us with directions & maps, places to take day trips to or printing out our boarding passes; our hosts could not do enough for us. They took a genuine interest in us---who we are & why we came to Tuscany (our honeymoon) ---and shared the same information about themselves. We felt we were friends staying in their home. It is no wonder that in the entrance hall is a huge book filled with guests’ heartfelt thanks and warm wishes for a memorable stay. Susan and I are neither related nor close friends of our hosts. Nor am I a writer but a CPA by profession. I have never written a review. This review is my heartfelt thanks to them for an unforgettable experience. Sincerely, Frank & Susan Percoco
